 BookWriter™ Professional: Upload Management
Of all the activities in which an online seller engages, none is more fundamentally important than having the ability to efficiently upload inventory information to sales venues. Without a reliable means of updating online records, sales will suffer and errors will creep in, resulting in order cancellations, duplications and customer dissatisfaction.
Yet, a surprising number of sellers not only have no efficient upload system in place, but many of them do it all manually, one venue at a time, using programs not suited to the task. One seller told us she regularly spends up to two hours a day manually formatting files and uploading records. Others use any of a number of for-hire file distribution services, sometimes with good results — but these are not foolproof and they can be expensive.
BwPro's Upload Management system is comprehensive, yet easy to use — even a novice can do it. Uploads can be performed via FTP, or via e-mail with upload attachments (future versions will also support HTTP transfers). One set up, the system remembers every setting automatically for next time. BwPro even creates ZIP files, just by selecting the option if needed.

UPLOAD MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
The Upload Wizard (image not currently available) provides a non-technical interface with the Upload Management system. BookWriter contains its own built-in FTP software so you never need an external program.
The Upload Management dialogue provides comprehensive setup controls. You can add, delete or modify destinations at will, even change the upload sequence. There is no limit to the number of destinations you can create (actually that's not strictly true -- you can create up to 2.1 billion destinations). You can instruct BwPro to create formatted upload files on demand, or include external files in your batch. Customized files can be written to specific locations to upload later. You can even upload all files in a directory and include all subdirectories to update an entire web site.

To upload to any selected location, click on Process Highlighted. To upload to all locations, select Process All. It's that easy. When uploading to multiple locations, BwPro not only handles the login, FTP upload and logout for each location, but it also automatically formats each upload file according to the individual requirements of each destination. You have complete freedom in this regard.

One of BookWriter Pro's most powerful features is its ability to configure upload formats for every destination. No longer do booksellers have to tear their hair out trying to conform to the unreasonable restrictions imposed by proprietary, non-standard, or poorly-thought-out listing service databases and private sales venues. The lack of adherence to standardization has, until now, been a big problem for booksellers. Not any more! Send a UIEE file to Alibris, a delimited file to Amazon, and a new batch of web pages and images to your own web site — while you get a cup of coffee
You can share formats between multiple destinations, or customize them to suit each venue's requirements. Adjust prices, perform sophisticated data formatting — whatever you need. Best of all, you only have to do it ONCE and BwPro remembers and applies all of your previous settings when it's time.
