WHAT IS BOOKWRITER? BookWriter is a suite of programs for booksellers that all work together. Separate programs for separate purposes allow users to only purchase what they need, instead of having to spend a lot of money all at once and end up becoming locked into yet-another proprietary environment. BookWriter is compatible with many different database and file formats -- you should be able to use the records you already have without being compelled to import & export every time you want to do something. This is a key design objective. BookWriter Web was created to help address many of the problems currently facing on-line booksellers. It is the first BookWriter component to be released. The program inexpensive, easy to use, and offers a long list of powerful features. BookWriter Professional is our flagship software. It is a complete bookselling environment, offering all of the capabilities a bookseller would normally expect to find in a program of its type. It also offers a wide range of special features and utilities that cannot be found in any other software. BookWriter was created by Thomas A. Sawyer, co-founder of Interloc in 1993 and co-founder of Alibris in 1998. With 18 years experience designing bookselling software, including BookMaster,™ Record Manager™, Book Prices Realized™, BookMate™ (for Alibris) and others. Tom is also the creator of the UIEE information exchange format used by booksellers worldwide. Tom was recently interviewed in a series of articles by the International Online Bookseller's Association (IOBA), an organization maintaining a high ethical and professional standard for their members. WHO ARE WE? TAS Software has been in existence since 1986 when we created BookMaster, the first commercially-successful PC software for booksellers. We are deeply committed to providing booksellers with effective, user-friendly software tools to accomplish their business objectives, and to provide assistance if and when needed.
