- The Tokens area lists the Tokens in the current template. Tokens are the means by which BwWeb identifies the "pieces" of your records you want to assemble into a composition. All you have to do is match them up with the information you want to appear in them, and then specify how you want the information to be presented. All of the controls in the Tokens area update automatically each time a different token is selected.
- The Populate With area provides a variety of ways to populate each token. You can select a database field and optionally Precede or Follow the field with specific text, or tell BwWeb to use the Field Name Only in place of the database text. You can also specify the Maximum Length of the text in characters. Or, you can insert a Literal String to replace the token with static text, or you can specify the Contents of a File to replace the token with its entire contents. There is also an Auto-Numbering option to create a number whose starting value increments by a specified amount each time a record is composed. And, you can specify that you want to make the token an active Link to a different web page by selecting the option and specifying a URL in the space provided.
- The Appearance area provides control over typographic, color and alignment attributes. Each time you make changes, the Sample text updates automatically to reflect your selections
- The Treatment area provides control over automatic case editing. You can convert to capitalized, initial cap, lower case or upper case.
- The HTML Replacements area provides control over substitution of characters whose representation in the HTML language or a delimited file may be ambiguous. These characters can be replaced with the HTML tag equivalents shown. This can be an extremely useful feature when preparing delimited files for upload or in cases where you need to import your records into another database.
- The ability to perform complex Calculations is one of BwWeb's most powerful features. You can enter a literal formula to apply to any value. For example, to raise a price by 25% and then add 5.00, enter: * 1.25 + 5. You can also calculate using Tables, which provide a means of creating numerical "tiers" to apply to values. For example, you can create pricing tiers or perform automatic shipping cost calculations based on price, weight or other information. A number of pre-defined tables are supplied with BwWeb.
